Sunday, November 11

Well, it's been a productive and exciting morning so far. After a few hours of halfway-decent sleep, we were both up in the wee hours - and the usual pangs started up again. Only this time, without the assistance of the special baby cocktail. So, that was a very good thing.

By early morning, the contractions were strong and long - and not exactly comfy. So, Carrie decided to move ahead to the epidural.

Wow. Modern medicine is an amazing thing. The pain evaporated, even though the contractions were proceeding apace - and we were both able to get a couple more hours of sleep.

By late morning, our baby team was debating whether or not to move things along by breaking Carrie's water for her -- when at noon, her water broke all by itself!

Things definitely seem to be moving along at a quicker pace - and the nurses are making bets as to which hour this afternoon we'll see Baby Jake.

Pretty exciting - today is Zack Wagner's fifth birthday. For Rob and I to both have our sons born on the same day is somehow pretty cool. I'm sure Zack will be a great honorary big brother to Jake (especially once Jake is old enough to play ball!)

More updates later...

Baby Jake is way cool. a mini-Kari in a blue beanie. Sweet and squeeks like a mouse and has a
generous repetoir of faces. Kari is a great swaddler, wrapping Jake up soft and securely like a little papoose. His Mom Carrie looks serene and beautiful and you can tell Jake has been loved, planned for and wanted for a long time and is among us to love and learn back. He is a beautiful boy baby and I was so privileged to get to hold him. AWESOME.. Good Job Carrie and Kari! what a wonderful addition and hope for our world!!
Much love, Aunt Cathy
